October sales
Tuesday, October 21, 2014
I've noticed a bunch of sales popping up lately, at some of my local favorites and USA made brands. I usually wait until Black Friday for (mostly online) Christmas shopping, but I've already started now. Here's a quick list to get you started -- let me know if there are others I should add.
Charlotte's yearly 25% off sale is going on until Sunday, October 26.
Moon and Lola has 15% off sitewide until Sunday with code HAPPY15. Now is the time to order personalized pieces for Christmas.
Furbish has 30% off all sale items with code SALE30.
Collared Greens has 30% off sale items with code FTT.
Zinke swimwear has 50% off the entire site for 24 hours with code ZINKEFRIENDS.
Merry Stockings has an extra 10% off already reduced prices with code CLEARANCE. I just discovered these personalized, made in USA stockings, in plenty of time to order for Christmas.
MORE ADDED
Devon Baer has 10% off this weekend with code TAKE10
K.slademade has 20% off sitewide until October 26 with code KSMSWEETTREAT
FIVE on Friday

ONE | I hope y'all are enjoying those Thanksgiving leftovers today. I LOVE Thanksgiving food and take any chance I can get to eat the food more than once. I already got into the leftovers last night.
TWO | There are a few sales on my radar this black Friday, although I probably won't leave the house today. I went out a few years ago late at night, but the past couple of years, I've taken advantage of online sales only.
This year, I'm tempted by the 12 days of Pure Barre. Items in the shop are 20% off today through Monday with code PureHoliday, and they will announce a new deal each day on their Facebook page.
I'm also thinking about taking the leap on some Loren Hope jewels I've been eyeing for months. They are taking 20% off orders of $100 or more and shipping for free with the code THANKS.
THREE | My dad introduced me to a show that has become a must see each week. A Chef's Life is true North Carolina. It features a chef in eastern NC who not only uses local ingredients but bases her dishes on what is in season in the area. She goes out to farms and learns about the crops and how to prepare southern favorites from local experts. In my opinion, it's the best thing on TV, and it's the only thing I watch besides college football and Jeopardy.
FOUR | I had fun with my uncle's and cousin's dogs yesterday. Dogs are awesome, and I want one.
My favorites were the combination of turkey, cranberry sauce, dressing, and gravy, as well as greens, roast beef, and chicken and rice. Let's be honest, everything was my favorite. It's interesting to see everyone's plates on Instagram and the different foods in each family's dinner.

FIVE | I'm looking forward to Southern Weddings Magazine's Third Annual Gingerbread Barn Building Contest next week. My sister in law and I placed second last year, and to us, that was a huge loss. We are still bitter but going back this year. Win or lose, we'll have a barn to add to our Christmas decorations.
There is no link up today, but in the future, link up for five on Friday at:
Lilly sale score
Wednesday, September 4, 2013
Did you hear the hype about the big Lilly sale a few weeks ago? They do have a whole lot on sale for incredible deals each year, but I have not done well with the sale in the past. Last year, I ordered a child's dress in a print I loved, but it turned out too short. Fortunately, I could hand it down to my twelve-year-old friend ;) I also bought a couple of knit tops in pretty prints, but the fit is weird. This year, the website crashed and they sold out of my size in what I wanted immediately. However, I kept looking, I went by the size chart and crossed my fingers, and I actually did well. I bought two dresses that I love and that fit plus several other goodies, mostly from the sorority collection.
I didn't realize this dress was going to be NEON in person, but I still like it. It doesn't scream "summer 2013," and I feel like I'll still wear it for several years, if not decades.

Nordstrom sale / running
Friday, May 31, 2013
If you've been hanging with my blogging for a while, you may remember my posts about simplifying, including having less stuff and spending less money. Well, that idea led to me making a wish list of clothes/shoes/jewelry with dates so that I can see how long I've wanted something and know I will use and keep it for a long time.
The Nordstrom sale came around last week, and I went straight to the watches and running shoes since both have been on my list for a while. I went on this shopping trip both like my mom would (brought in by the sale) and like my dad would (making a beeline to the items I needed). Unfortunately, my watch order got cancelled (it was a great deal, and evidently too popular), but I am thrilled with my new shoes! update: The sales lady from Nordstrom called to let me know they have the watch back in stock, and I ordered it again, still with the sale price! I wore it here.
I purchased my last pair of running shoes at the same sale two years ago. Actually, I had only seen a picture, and my mom got them for me. They fit well and were comfortable, so I was focused on trying this year's pair of Air Pegasus.
I was not disappointed at all. I have been having a lot of trouble with my knee over the past couple of months, which has improved lately with the help of a chiropractor and foam roller exercises. I hadn't jogged in several months, but wow! These shoes felt amazing when I jogged around the neighborhood twice over the weekend and on the treadmill this week. It seems like every time I get new shoes, I'm amazed at how much easier it is to run and I wish I had gotten them even sooner.
See how my right knee is bent a little?! It won't straighten.
Have you bought anything recently that you've planned to buy for a while?
Any suggestions for where I should look for a watch? ;)
