Warbirds Over Monroe

Saturday, November 22, 2014

While in Charlotte a few weeks ago, Zack and I decided to swing by his old home airport in Monroe during the Warbirds Over Monroe air show. We saw some amazing flying.

This is a Dauntless divebomber like Zack's grandfather flew in the Philippines during World War II.

The dive brakes, or "Swiss cheese," help control the rate of descent as the plane is aimed straight down at an enemy ship.

I would love to go to the Warbirds Over Monroe air show another year when we have more time to check it all out!
